My Story
A Life of Stories and Stars
Born in 1971 in Southern California, Jess Huizar never had the comfort of a hometown. His family moved frequently as his father chased work, leaving Jess to find stability in his own imagination. With friendships hard to form and harder to keep, he turned inward—creating worlds, characters, and adventures that gave his childhood consistency and color.
A latchkey kid raised on the glow of television, Jess found solace and inspiration in the classic sci-fi series of the time. Star Trek and The Twilight Zone weren’t just shows, they were lifelines to other worlds where difference was strength and the outsider often became the hero. These stories didn’t just entertain; they taught him patience, resilience, and the power of narrative.
Eventually, his family put down roots in Burbank, California. But Jess’s imagination never stopped traveling. As all great stories go... By a chance meeting, at a place he had no intention on going to, he ran into his high school sweetheart. Which began a new arc to his storyline. All of Jess's travels, it would became a powerful tool years later when his son Aaron was born with autism. A child who saw the world through a different lens found in Jess not just a father, but someone who deeply understood what it felt like to be different and alone.
Together, they began to build stories of their own. For Jess, storytelling had once been an escape. Now, it was a shared journey, a bridge between father and son.
“We all share a role in a grand adventure,” Jess says. “Sometimes, our roles happen on Strange New Worlds.”
